    Spirit of Massachusetts is model after the fishing schooner Fredonia. The design is typical of the Gloucester fishing schooner of the late 1800s . These fast and able vessel were the type that fished on the Grand Banks. This vessel is operated by the New England Historical Sea Port, Boston, Mass 021209
