Bat'kivshchyna has a steel hull re-enforced with ferro-cement. There
is room for twenty-four persons to sail in reasonable comfort. The fore
cabin sleeps six comfortably. The main cabin has room for ten with five
cabins all with bunk beds.
The Captain quarters have room for four but are normally occupied by
just him, his wife. and their youngest Grandson Phillip.
The masts are hinged and can be lowered with the assistance of the
anchor winch. With an experienced crew in Kyiv the masts can be lowered
in 45 minutes and raised in 40 minutes. There are several bridges on the
Dnipro River the ship cannot pass without lowering the masts. |
