Hi Tom,
I love your site. I
wanted to give you and update on Schooner Spirit of Independence listed on your
site, the schooner being built in Independence Mo. J.T Waters has be
building this boat for at least 15 years. The Spirit of Independence has been a
landmark in our town for a long time, I was on site when she was
Christened yesterday, Friday Sept 2, at the boat ramp at LeBeneta
Park in Sugar Creek Missouri, on the Missouri River. She was transported
on a heavy flatbed truck and was lifted with a crane into the river. I was on
site for the festivities. She is a beautiful boat. I have taken some pictures of
her and will send them to you. She will begin her journey down the Missouri
River to the Mississippi and on to the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. I
understand her home port with be Charleston South Carolina, and will be a
charter boat. I will really miss seeing her on my way to work. I'll
send you the pictures next week. I hope to get some more before she
leaves. I doubt I'll get any with her sails but the rigging is up and is
still very impressive.
Best Wishes,
Jim Plante
